From Macy's department store up to Central Park, the Midtown West skyline continues its rapid change. New developments dot the horizon, from the 45-story Bryant Park Tower, to Orion and Clinton West in the far west 40's, to the striking new Time Warner Center and Mandarin Oriental Hotel at Columbus Circle, where condo owners are afforded the city's most spectacular park and river views, and live music aficionados flock to hear the highest-profile names in jazz. Meanwhile, Times Square, the bustling center of New York City, is always full of people, eager to experience the bright lights of one of the more exciting spots in the world. Every New Year’s Eve, of course, millions converge to view the famous ball drop, broadcast as “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.” Times Square offers Broadway shows, numerous hotels, including the gorgeous Marriott, which boasts a Broadway theatre, the Marriott Marquis, inside it, as well as a famous restaurant, The View, on its top floor, which provides gorgeous, breathtaking views of the entire island. Customers also flock to exciting stores like Toys R’ Us, which has a Ferris Wheel inside, M&M World, and the Hershey’s store. People wanting to go to Broadway shows can purchase discounted tickets at the newly renovated TKTS Booth in Duffy Square.

Nearby, on 42nd Street, people can visit such exciting museum attractions as Madame Tussaud’s to see wax sculptures of their favorite celebrities and famous historical figures, and Ripley’s Believe It or Not. Also in the area are the International Center of Photography, the Carnegie Hall Rose Museum, and the Museum of Art and Design. Returning to 42nd Street, it also features two enormous movie theatre multiplexes, facing one another—the AMC Empire and the Crown Regal. Other famous theatre-related spots in the area include Shubert Alley and Theatre Row.

And at the northeast tip of this storied neighborhood, the stately and world-famous Plaza Hotel patiently undergoes its condo conversion. Other hotels include the aforementioned Marriott, as well as the New York Hilton, the Westin, the Peninsula Hotel, Park Savoy, St. Moritz, and Essex House.

Midtown West also features such places as Columbus Circle, where the Time Warner building is located, as well as a gorgeous shopping center, with such high-end shops as Armani Exchange and Hugo Boss, as well as a Whole Foods, Borders, Godiva Chocolate, and more, and the famous NY Public Library building, with its lion statues, Patience and Fortitude.

Restaurants in the area include Orso and Barbetta, Jekyll & Hyde, a theme restaurant modeled after classic horror movies, full of ghouls and goblins and mad scientist laboratories, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Carnegie Deli, Grey’s Papaya, Hard Rock Café, and Planet Hollywood in Times Square, Firebird,
Baluchi’s, Yum Yum Bangkok, Le Pain Quotidien, and Amy’s Bread.

Famous clubs, night spots and bars include Birdland, a famous jazz club, Zanzi Bar, Swing 46, Film Center Café, Russian Vodka Room, Town, Nation, and
Morell Wine Bar.

Area transportation includes the red, blue, orange, and yellow subway lines, as well as the 7 train, and uptown, downtown, and crosstown buses. Port Authority, of course, offers, travel in and out of the city via buses.
