Invader

BUILDER
George Lawley & Sons
BUILT/REFIT
1905/2003

The story of the restoration of Invader is as extraordinary as the yacht herself. Built in 1905 by George Lawley & Sons and designed by the nephew of the great Nathaniel G Herreshoff and one of his many disciples, INVADER shows all the signs of the great designs of the “Wizard of Bristol”. She won the Transpac race in 1926. Invader held the record for the best time for 23 years and the 24-hour record until 1977. With her nearly 87 ft of Main Boom and 40ft of Bowsprit, her dimensions are extraordinary, as is her performance in light winds. She has a glamorous past with the likes of Charlie Chaplin holidaying onboard. She was rebuilt in 2003 with no expense spared. She now accomodates 6 guests in 3 twin cabins.
