Description

Castello dell'Oscano is located in the municipality of Perugia. It comprises an enchanting Castle and its adjacent Villa, immersed in the quiet of a centuries-old park of Holm oaks, pines, cedars, cypresses, and beech trees. The property also includes agricultural land, cottages, and annexes.

The Castle was originally a 14th-century medieval fortress built in a Neo-Gothic style inspired by English and Tuscan models, with a square-based tower. For centuries, it was an aristocratic residence built on the remains of the original medieval fortress. Its current form dates back to the late nineteenth century.

The ground floor still contains halls with stucco and coffered wood ceilings, elegantly furnished lounges with period furniture and paintings, and a library with gold laminated wood paneling and portals. The main entrance leads into a vast hall with a wooden floor finely carved into interlocking two-toned squares. Part of the wall covering is also made of wood. Above the door, a beautiful wooden coffered structure forms a mock loggia made of wood.

The castle has eleven rooms, including three junior and three elegant suites. It also has elegant common rooms for reading and relaxation and three dining rooms.

The palace adjacent to the castle was built at the turn of the 18th century and is entirely made of stone and travertine. It has four floors, two basements, plus an attic floor. The former hunting lodge has eighteen classic rooms and five superior new rooms.

The two structures share a beautiful historical park overlooked by the Hall of Duals, which can be used for banquets with 300 meals or conferences with 360 seats. This building, constructed in the 19th century, is 40 meters long and 8 meters wide. It was formerly a food equipment warehouse that became the lemon house in the early 1900s.

The historical park also has a small cottage called the gardener's house, probably the oldest of all, as it has existed since 1300. The two-story building is currently divided into three well-renovated and finely furnished flats, two on the ground floor and one on the first.

An old greenhouse, partly made of brick, iron, and glass, is between the Casa del Giardiniere and the Villa.

Outside the historical park is another old farmhouse to be restored with its outbuildings.

The agricultural land, located at an average altitude of 350 meters above sea level, consists of moderately steep hilly arable land of Indigenous origin, hilly olive groves, pasture, and woods. The tourist area covers approximately 24 hectares ( approx. 60 acres) and is mainly urban with some agricultural plots. The favorable hillside location and the small distance from the Tiber and Lake Trasimeno make the cultivation of oil and wine favorable.

The property has several outbuildings, two agriturismos, two pools, a sheep barn, and a pecorino cheese production site.
