A posh pad in Long Island City that fetched $3.35 million from a Colombian jetsetter last month ranks as the priciest condo sale in Queens history, brokers said.
The 1,800-square-foot pied-a-terre at The View on Center Blvd. commanded $1,375 per square foot thanks to a ground-floor back yard with East River views.
“It’s one of the only waterfront buildings in the area,” said Nest Seekers International broker Silvette Julian, who represented the condo’s previous owner. “The views are incredible.”
The condo features 17-foot ceilings, rooftop terrace and 24-hour doorman service, according to the listing. The complex also boasts an Olympics-size pool, billiards room, cinema center and fitness area, Julian said.
Condo prices in Long Island City have topped out as available units have dwindled, according to a recent report by real estate firm Modern Spaces. The average price per square foot for sales is $930, according to the report.
“Five years ago I would not have believed it would have gone to where it has gone,” said Eric Benaim, the CEO of Modern Spaces, which was not involved in the transaction. “We’ve been selling units at $1100-1200 a square foot. It keeps on going up.”
